Are you ready for the holiday season? As the holiday season begins, store fronts will showcase holiday décor, colored holiday lights will begin to brighten up homes and local charities will start annual donation campaigns. While philanthropic donations may seem like just a simple good deed, holiday campaigns are a lifeline for many local non-profit organizations.
While decking the halls brings holiday cheer into your home, consider expanding that cheer into the life of another with a contribution to Cloverland Cares. Founded as a non-profit in 2020, Cloverland Cares is the charitable arm of Cloverland Electric Cooperative. The cooperative serves over 34,000 members with 43,000 meters across the rural Eastern Upper Peninsula (E.U.P.) of Michigan.
Cloverland Cares is a bill round up program founded with a heart for giving back to the local community. Members can opt to round-up the spare change on their monthly utility bill to give back to the local community. 100% of the funds generated for Cloverland Cares directly benefits local school meal programs, food banks and scholarships across the E.U.P.
“Every Cloverland member who chooses to round-up their monthly bill is making an impact on our local communities through school meal programs, food bank donations and scholarships benefiting local students,” states Allie Brawley, Cloverland Electric Cooperative’s Director of Business Development and Communications who also serves as Cloverland Cares Board President.
In 2021, three food banks and three local high school seniors received funds from Cloverland Cares. The students who received Cloverland Cares scholarships are attending Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. These scholarships were possible through the generous donations of Cloverland members.
Give a gift that gives back this holiday season, opt-in to round-up for Cloverland Cares!
