Yooper’s searching for hope didn’t have to look far this week. Ten9 Ministries based in Fenton, Michigan brought a Night of Hope to cities across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan from August 19-29.

The Night of Hope event in Sault. Ste. Marie, Michigan started with inflatables and yard games for the community. All residents of the area were welcome to attend the free event. With a foam pit, inflatable axe throwing and an obstacle course – the event started out with family-friendly fun for all. After enjoying the festivities, attendees were treated with live music, worship and a message of hope from Ten9 Ministries Pastor, Wes Morris.

The faith-based group is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission of spreading the hope of the Gospel to as many people as possible. While the non-profit previously went on missions’ trips overseas, the COVID-19 pandemic brought mission efforts to the state level.

“There were a lot of parades, fireworks and other events cancelled in Michigan tourist towns last year,” Morris states. “We knew people were looking for hope and saw the opportunity to provide an outdoor event at city parks in the void of those tourist attractions.”

In 2020, Ten9 Ministries started the Night of Hope tour across the shoreline of Michigan, visiting Traverse City, Mackinaw City and southern shoreline towns. In 2021, the tour spread across the Upper Peninsula, beginning in the west at Ironwood and ending in the middle of the peninsula in Escanaba.

The Ten9 team is primarily volunteer based, with over 25 volunteers from southeast Michigan participating in the Sault Ste. Marie event.

“Our team has a heart for the Gospel,” Morris states.

The Ten9 Ministry team brought more than just hope to the Sault Ste, Marie community. Event volunteers stayed in local hotels, visited shops, ate at restaurants and made an impact on the local economy over their two-night stay. The impact made was evident in the great turnout the event drew from the local community.
